1. I went to Plugins –> Add New
2. I searched for “WordPress SEO by Yoast”, here is what comes up:
There are several reasons why I decided to use this plugin:
First of all – it is free, many SEO Tools cost money and don’t do anything else. Besides that, Yoast has a lot of reputation in the community. I often hang out in the Warriorforum where this plugin is recommended by other Internet Marketers. Before, I discovered one invested money in called All-in-One-Seo-Plugin, but really, it was a waist of money. Besides the fact that it doesn’t do anything else than the free one by Yoast, it crashed one of my sites by increasing the loading time until I had a database error.
So here is the Search Engine Optimization I do for each post:
Once you have installed the plugin you see on the bottom of each post “WordPress SEO by Yoast”
Here, you can decide the keyword you want to focus on and optimize the site for that keyword. Make sure you put the keyword under “Focus Keyword”, “SEO Title”, and in your “Meta Description”.
There are different Tabs to click on though – e.g. under “Page Analysis” you can learn more what you can improve, such as adding a description to your pictures. This does not just help disabled people, but also search engines to “read” your pictures:
As you know I’m documenting the blog set up here. Therefore you don’t see a lot of design at the moment. I’d rather put some content to document my process, but I already optimized my pics and I also set a “Featured Image”, which is an option in the Theme I’m using (Genesis Theme).
Please note: I’m not an expert on SEO either. I just describe what I do here on the blog and what has worked for me on my other blogs so far. If you have any ideas for optimization – you are very welcome to leave me a comment.
