Book Review: The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris

October 1, 2018 5 Comments

Tim Ferris' Book "The Four Hour Work Week*" is one of the so called Bibles of Entrepreneurship - an absolutely must read if you want to escape the 9-5 rat trap. I bet you've heard sentences like this often enough and they really lost their excitement.

The thing is: Most of us Internet Entrepreneurs work on our blogs and products for years - with more or less success and more or less consistency.

But it's true: We all can escape the 9-5, not just if we were born rich or something but if we simply stay consistent. You also don't have to be in your 20's or be single - joining Tim Ferris in the 4 Hour Work Week is more joining a new lifestyle.

So in this video I have a closer look at the "Four Hour Work Week" and I found some really interesting quotes. ‚Äč

One quote Tim Ferris mentions comes from Mark Twain:

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, is is time to pause and reflect.

Yeah, so true. I mean haven't we all been caught in that trap? We went to school, graduated, looked for a job, eventually got a good one and now we try to keep it until we can retire - with save money then coming our way.

If that sounds like you, well, I'm sorry then you are on the side of the majority (you'll find me there as well...). Why and how did that happen? Let me guess:

It's save, right?

Is it fun?

Definitely not. Because - we just can't wait that the weekend starts instead of enjoying every minute of our life. We look forward to our next holiday instead of enjoying the daily routine. And with routine I do not mean us sitting in the office from 9 to 5 - what I mean is making every day absolutely "legendary" - just as if it is the last of our life. If it was, I'm sure you wouldn't stay in your office, would you?

Actually that was one reason why I started "Living for Mondays". I wanted to have every day a Monday - and enjoy it. No weekend necessary because I enjoy the whole week.

Can it work even if you are not a multimillionaire?

According to Tim Ferris it can. You can outsource your work and then enjoy being wherever you want to be without being present.

He says that his book "The Four Hour Work Week" has the recipe for that.

To be honest with you: I haven't found the recipe yet. But I'm pretty excited about the book and if nothing else it definitely inspires me and gives me new ideas about how to plan my life. But then, I haven't finished it yet.

Also, this book is a bestseller so there must be something in it which helps us grow and improve. As I said beside of "The One Thing*" and "Think and Grow Rich*" you simply have to read it if you want to become a successful entrepreneur.
